Concord's offense had some new components in the lineup Friday night as Dee Bost took over at QB and Roger Smith got his first start at tailback. Jimmy Drye who had started the Spider's first three games at QB moved to flanker.
The first half was a defensive struggle with the teams trading stops and turnovers. That changed with about 3 minutes left in the half as Roger Smith ran around left end for a 24 yard touchdown. The snap was high on the PAT attempt and kicker Chad Myers scooped up the ball but was stopped short.
Mt Pleasant moved the ball down the field on their next possession but Concord linebacker Calvin Hillie stepped in front of an Evan Seamore pass and returned it to the Mt. Pleasant 18 yard line.
Concord wasted no time putting another TD on the board as QB Dee Bost scored on a 4 yard keeper a few plays later. Concord went for 2 and was stopped short. Concord took a 12-0 lead into halftime.
Both defenses played well in the 3rd quarter, Concord's lone score in the period was a 29 yard Chad Myers field goal for a 15-0 Concord lead.
The 4th quarter saw more scoring as Dee Bost found Jimmy Drye for a 29 yard touchdown. Chad Myers' PAT was good bringing the tally to 22-0.
Concord's offense continued to move the ball in the 4th. Dee Bost threw to the endzone and WR Lance Lewis went up over two defenders for the TD catch.
On the ensuing kickoff Mt. Pleasant kick returner Daniel Beaver took Chad Myers kick and returned it 93 yards for the Tigers lone score.

There was no full moon this week but it was still a wild night on Friday the 13th at Robert C. Bailey Stadium.
The first half was a slugfest. Both teams took each others best shot and kept getting back up. The standing room only crowd saw Kannapolis opening the scoring as Matthew Ouellette scored on a short run. The PAT was blocked.
Concord replied with a solid drive capped with a Mike Moore touchdown run. Kannapolis scored again as QB Jonathan Efird found Jesse Gillion for a 20 yard touchdown pass. Efird hit TE Zach Massey for the 2 point conversion.

After a bumpy start Concord found themselves down 7-6 to the visiting Central Cabarrus Vikings at halftime.
Only those in the fieldhouse Friday night know what the coaches said during halftime but this much is clear. The Spiders responded.
Central hit Concord with an uppercut on the first play. Talen Baker fielded the opening kickoff and went 76 yards for a touchdown.
Baker’s touchdown stunned the Spiders, who trudged through much of the opening half.
Luckily the Spider defense kept the team within striking distance while blanketing the Vikings offense the entire night.
Just before halftime the Vikings lined up to punt near their own goal line. Spider defender Calee Davis blocked the punt, which was plucked out of the air by Tyrel Weatherspoon and returned for a touchdown. The Spiders finally carried some momentum into the half.
Halftime featured a performance from the Concord Marching Spiders who were joined by the band members from Concord Middle School.
Concord took the second half kickoff and immediately grabbed control of the football game.
The Spiders ground out an eleven play, sixty-eight yard drive. Keyon Phillips’ short pass to Lucas Guerriero put the Spiders up 13-7 after Parker Stephens booted the PAT.
Hungry for more the Spider defense struck with a Calee Davis interception that setup the Spiders in the red zone.
A few plays later Keyon Phillips bowled into the endzone to put the Spiders up 20-7 after Stephens’ PAT.
After another defensive stop The Spiders offense would eat up a good portion of the 4th quarter before putting the icing on the cake. Keyvyonn Bostic capped off a 16 play drive with a short touchdown run to put the Spiders up 27-7.
It was a stellar second half effort by the Spiders.
Central Cabarrus gained only fifty one yards offense including negative four rushing yards.
Keyon Phillips led the Spider rushing attack with 89 yards and a touchdown. Leland Bishop punished the Viking defense for 84 yards on 17 carries.
The Spider defensive front chased Viking quarterback Rykie Washington around for much of the night. Alex Petroff led the Spiders with 6.5 tackles, Harrison Grant had 4.5, and Keyvyonn Bostic rounded out the leaders with 4. Calee Davis added an interception.
With the win Concord moves to 4-1 on the season. The Spiders travel to SPC foe Carson next Friday night.
Concord now leads the series with Central Cabarrus 43-12-1.
