The Spiders took the second half kickoff and marched down the field. Bost completed passes to Jimmy Drye and Lance Lewis then Roger Smith finished it off with a 6 yard run.

Concord defensive back Reese Harris ended Central's next drive with an interception in Concord territory. After the turnover Dee bost hit a streaking Dustin Burris for a 55 yard touchdown.

Lance Lewis capped the scoring for Concord with a 55 yard touchdown after a short pass from Bost. Central Cabarrus added 14 points in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late for the Vikings who fall to 2-3.

Spiders roll 28-7 at Mt. Pleasant

Written by
concord helmet2 28 mt pleasant nc 7

Concord's offense had some new components in the lineup Friday night as Dee Bost took over at QB and Roger Smith got his first start at tailback. Jimmy Drye who had started the Spider's first three games at QB moved to flanker.

The first half was a defensive struggle with the teams trading stops and turnovers. That changed with about 3 minutes left in the half as Roger Smith ran around left end for a 24 yard touchdown. The snap was high on the PAT attempt and kicker Chad Myers scooped up the ball but was stopped short.

Mt Pleasant moved the ball down the field on their next possession but Concord linebacker Calvin Hillie stepped in front of an Evan Seamore pass and returned it to the Mt. Pleasant 18 yard line.

Concord wasted no time putting another TD on the board as QB Dee Bost scored on a 4 yard keeper a few plays later. Concord went for 2 and was stopped short. Concord took a 12-0 lead into halftime.

Both defenses played well in the 3rd quarter, Concord's lone score in the period was a 29 yard Chad Myers field goal for a 15-0 Concord lead.

The 4th quarter saw more scoring as Dee Bost found Jimmy Drye for a 29 yard touchdown. Chad Myers' PAT was good bringing the tally to 22-0.

Concord's offense continued to move the ball in the 4th. Dee Bost threw to the endzone and WR Lance Lewis went up over two defenders for the TD catch.

On the ensuing kickoff Mt. Pleasant kick returner Daniel Beaver took Chad Myers kick and returned it 93 yards for the Tigers lone score.

Bulldogs nip Spiders

concord helmet2 12 robinson nc 13

Robinson survived a wild finish to beat the Spiders 13-12 for their first ever victory over Concord.

Bulldog freshman QB Bradley Clay opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 3 yard pass after two consecutive pass interference calls moved the ball to the 3 yard line. The extra point was missed. Concord answered in the second quarter with a Jimmy Drye 8 yard TD run. Chad Myers extra point was blocked, the first of two the Bulldogs would block.

Robinson jumped out to a 13-6 lead on the arm of Clay who completed a 65 yard TD pass halfway through the third quarter. Concord again answered when Jimmy Drye hit Lance Lewis with a short pass and then scrambled for a 41 yard touchdown. Myers extra point was blocked again.

Concord had one final chance starting at the Bulldogs 33 yard line with two minutes to play. The Bulldogs sacked Drye on second down, then Drye completed a pass to TE Matt Beecher who ran to the Robinson 15. On fourth down the Spiders lined up for a Chad Myers field goal but ran a fake instead. Holder Dustin Burris was stopped short of the first down and Robinson held on for the win.

Concord's defense dominated again holding the Bulldogs to negative rushing for the game and only yielding 140 yards passing.

Pictures coming soon.
